The City of Hillsboro is seeking a small group of community members who speak and represent three of our city's safe harbor languages—Hindi, Vietnamese, and Chinese—to help improve the city's Style Guide for working with translation and interpretation service vendors.

The English version of the guide will be translated into Hindi, Chinese, and Vietnamese for two purposes: first, to create a unified voice across the small translation and interpretation projects conducted by city staff; and second, to verify that the guide uses language and terminology that makes sense to Hindi, Chinese, and Vietnamese speakers. The group will help ensure the style guide maintains a reading level accessible to all of our LEP (Limited English Proficient) community members.

A stipend will be offered to the selected participants.

Spanish Translator

The Spanish Translator role is responsible for the translation of assigned member materials from English to Spanish. The materials primarily contain non-technical health care content. In collaboration with the language access team, this position helps promote, maintain and improve language access and services for Limited English Proficient (LEP) members and families across the state of Oregon.
