| President Allison deFreese |
Allison deFreese has led literary translation workshops for the Oregon Society of Translators and Interpreters since 2017-2018 and served as OSTI's conference chair for the past 5 years. Because learning is a lifelong process and language access and equity are important, Allison has been coordinating Spanish language literacy courses for adult learners in Oregon since the 2004-2005 school year. Her recent poetry translations include Verónica González Arredondo's Green Fires of the Spirits (Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla's University Press, Libros BUAP, Mexico, 2022) and I Am Not That Body (Not a Pipe Publishing, 2024), Carolina Esses' Winter Season (Entre Ríos Books, 2023), Luciana Jazmín Coronado's Dinner at Las Heras (C&R Press, 2024), and Karla Marrufo's The City Within You (Cathexis Press, 2024).

Olga Bogatova is a certified Russian translator and interpreter based in San Francisco, CA. She works as a medical interpreter at Stanford Health Care and also trains newcomers to the field through the Chicago-based non-profit organization Americans Against Language Barriers. Her daily commitment focuses on addressing the medical and legal needs of the local Russian-speaking immigrant community.

Treasurer Romina Espinosa |
Romina Espinosa (Lima, Peru) is a translator and interpreter passionate about language access. She holds degrees from UC San Diego and the University of Oviedo in Spain. She currently works as an in-house Spanish medical interpreter for UC San Diego Health. Espinosa’s eclectic portfolio includes: publishing pieces in San Diego Poetry Annual, terp.app, ATS Scholar, and The Linguist; speaking at conferences; translations for non-profits and literary authors (e.g. A Proclamation for Peace: Translated for the World); simultaneous interpretation for international conferences; event/conference organizing; and serving as treasurer for the Oregon Society of Translators and Interpreters and a member of OSTI’s board of directors.

Director Malcolm Goldman |
Malcolm Goldman has been involved with OSTI since 2018 when they went to an introductory workshop on literary translation as a college student. Since then, they have completed a bachelor’s degree in German and Applied Linguistics with a literary translation as a thesis, given guest lectures in the PSU Linguistics department on translation, and published their first translation in print. Their translations focus on 20th century philosophy, surrealism, and modern perspectives from marginalized voices.

Secretary Sylvia Benner |
Sylvia Benner is an ATA-certified translator from English into German. She specializes in the life sciences and has more than 25 years of experience as a full-time freelance translator. Her work gives her an opportunity to combine her interest in science with her passion for languages, and she enjoys knowing that she is making a small contribution to the advancement of medical science by enabling research across international borders. A particular professional interest of Sylvia's are computer-aided translation tools, which she adopted early in her career. Sylvia holds a BA in Social Science from Marylhurst College and has extensive experience in volunteer non-profit administration. She lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband, four cats, and a chat line to her son, who is going to college in Germany.
