Event details
Event Name:Multicultural Celebration for Connection, Love, and Peace
Date:Sunday, February 16, 2025
Time:2:00 - 5:00 PM
PURPOSE: This February, we aim to bring together our multicultural community on the westside to honor both those we’ve lost and those who live far away. The gathering is intended as a space for peace, connection, and healing, fostering a sense of unity for all. Many in our community—immigrants, refugees, and people of color—have endured profound losses and separation from family. This event is an opportunity to come together, share our cultures and honor loved ones with messages of peace and joy.
Attendees receive a copy of A Proclamation for Peace in 50 languages. Attendees are encouraged to explore the translations, finding one in a language that resonates with them. Each attendee is welcome to keep a copy as a personal reminder of our shared commitment to peace.
Opening Remarks and Poetry Reading
An opening remark by Dr. Zaher Wahab, followed by a reading of A Proclamation for Peace by Oregon Poet Laureate Kim Stafford, accompanied by Allison deFreese, the editor of the book, and translators who attend the event.
