About the Panelists:
- Lois Feuerle, PhD, JD, is OSTI's president and a founding member of OSTI. She has served on the Oregon Governor’s Commission on Health Care Interpreters and currently serves on the Oregon Council on Health Care Interpreters.
- John Wan is a certified Mandarin Court Interpreter in Washington, Oregon, and California.
- Esmeralda Hu is a certified Spanish Medical Interpreter based in San Diego, California. She is an in-house interpreter at UC San Diego Health.
- Malcolm Goldman is a German > English literary translator based in Portland, Oregon. They regularly serve on the papers committee for the annual OSTI conference, and their first published translation, Globus: Studies on the World-Historical Doctrine of Space by Franz Rosenzweig, was published in the Rosenzweig Yearbook in 2023.
- Allison deFreese (the panel moderator) has been leading multi-language literary translation workshops for OSTI since 2018 and has served as OSTI's conference chair from 2020-2024 (save-the-date, September 20-21, 2024). She has published a few books.
