In-Person Workshop by Erin Neff-Minyard

CEUs:
Approved by CCHI for 5 CEU hours,
 IMIA/NBCMI for 0.5 CEUs

This free, interactive 5-hour workshop is designed for experienced health care interpreters to expand their knowledge, improve interpreting skills, and increase their comfort level related to interpreting in a kidney transplant clinic. Whether the patient is on the recipient or the donor side of the experience, this lengthy process involves specialized terminology and the need for a clear understanding of the evaluation steps in order to create accurate meaning in interpretation. We'll use art and story-telling to work through our objectives together.

Course Objectives:

  • Define the concepts and terms related to the Kidney Transplant program.
  • Explain the details of the pre- and post- transplant process for recipients.
  • Explain the details of the pre- and post- donation process for living donors.
  • Explain the importance of being financially prepared for a transplant.
  • Apply the NCIHC’s interpreter code of ethics and standards of practice.
