In-Person Workshop by Erin Neff-Minyard
CEUs: Approved by CCHI for 5 CEU hours, IMIA/NBCMI for 0.5 CEUs
This free, interactive 5-hour workshop is designed for experienced health care interpreters to expand their knowledge, improve interpreting skills, and increase their comfort level related to interpreting in a kidney transplant clinic. Whether the patient is on the recipient or the donor side of the experience, this lengthy process involves specialized terminology and the need for a clear understanding of the evaluation steps in order to create accurate meaning in interpretation. We'll use art and story-telling to work through our objectives together.

Erin Neff-Minyard, Ed.M., CHItm is an Oregon Certified Spanish Health Care Interpreter and Language Access Program Coordinator at Legacy Health in Portland, Oregon, where she has worked since 2007. Erin has a master’s degree in adult education from Oregon State University, a bachelor's degree in Spanish from the University of Puget Sound, has lived in Ecuador and Spain, and has interpreted in Legacy Good Samaritan's Kidney Transplant clinic since 2012.

Free parking in Parking Structure #2 or #3, across from the main hospital, enter on NW Marshall Street.
Please arrive between 7:15am – 7:30am to give you enough time to go through Security in the Emergency Room (ER). After passing through Security, let the receptionist know you are here for the Kidney Transplant class and you will be directed to a hallway next to the ER lobby where you will wait for Erin to escort you to the classroom at 7:45am. We will be walking about a ½ block to the classroom. Because of the hospital’s strict security policies, if you arrive late, I will not be able to get you access to the classroom.
