Panels for Students Interested in Translation/Interpreting Careers

Part II - Working as a Translator

The Oregon Society of Translators and Interpreters is pleased to announce two panel discussions for students interested in learning more about careers in interpreting or translation or for anyone interested in gaining more knowledge about T&I fields!

Are you thinking about pursuing a career in translation or interpreting and need more information about what it's like in the field? These panels are for you!

Are you a university professor or high school instructor? Bring your class to one of these Saturday panels and invite students to attend them as an extra credit project.

On April 15th (at 11:00 AM PDT), OSTI is offering a panel on careers in translation.

The panelists, who will answer questions about translation, include:

Ghada Mourad. PhD, professor at the University of California, Irvine, who translates from Arabic and French into English;

Gabriel González Núñez, PhD, professor at the University of Texas and Director of the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley's Graduate Spanish Translation and Interpreting Program who has previously worked as a freelance translator and conference interpreter;

Christina Pfister, is a German<>English translator, book editor, and voice recording professional,

and

Allison A. deFreese, a National Endowment for the Arts Literature Translation Fellow and literary translator who likes cats.

Are you a university professor or high school instructor? Bring your class to one of these Saturday panels and invite students to attend as an extra credit project.

Please share this event with your friends, students, and with others interested in learning more about translation or interpreting. We hope to see you there!
